QUINTANA STRIKES OUT 10, CONTRERAS STRIKES OUT 7 IN WIN OVER BUCKS

RINCON, PR –  The Puerto Rico Islanders have defeated the New York Bucks by a score of 6 to 4 on Friday night in what was a great pitching matchup.

Matt Quintana earned his first win of the season for the Islanders pitching 5 solid innings allowing just 2 runs on 5 hits  and striking out a team high 10 Bucks. Reliever Luis Contreras came in to pitch and picked up right where Quintana left it striking out 7 batters in just 3 innings of play without a single earned run.

Bucks starter Phill Reese went  6 innings of work allowing 4 earned runs but striking out 11 Islanders and allowing just one walk. An outstanding outing for the starters first game but it wasnt enough as a couple of defensive mistakes was the difference in this one.

Abel Medina led the way offensively for the Bucks going 2 for 5 with a run and RBI while Franklin Jennings had 4 stolen bases for the Bucks.

It was the top half of the Islanders night as Angel Perez, Shota Sugawara and Jacob Bissell all had a hit and a double  with Jacob Bissell picking up 2 RBI’s and once again leading the league in RBI’s with 5.

The Islanders improve to (2-1) while the Bucks drop to (1-2) in the standings heading into the 4th game of the series tomorrow at 6:15pm in Rincon, PR. You can watch the games live on our website. For tickets, visit the stadium location for more.
