LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY – Islanders sweep yet another double header from the Explorers to win their 7th consecutive game. This is the longest winning streak in franchise history.
In Game one, the Islanders defeated the Explorers 3-1 on a great pitchers duel. Drue Bravo tossed 6 and 2/3 innings of work and got the loss but not before striking out 10 Islanders. David Wynn earned the victory as he tossed 6 innings striking out 5 batters allowing just 1 earned run on 5 hits.
The Islanders took the lead when Edwin Arroyo singled up the middle that scored Nick McHugh. On that same play, Kenneth Collins scored on an error by outfielder Joe Fiorino to make the game 2-0. Joe Fiorino would pick his team back up as he doubled to score the teams only run but wasn’t enough to beat the Islanders.
In Game two, Islanders once again defeated the Explorers by the score 11-2. Kurtis Hultz earned his first ever professional victory. Edwin Arroyo led the way for the Islanders as he belted his first career professional home run while adding 2 more singles on a career night for Arroyo. Dioni Rodriguez belted his second home run of the season and Trey Hannam also homered as he now has homered in two consecutive games. Cosme Zapata tossed three scoreless innings.
The teams will face each other one last time this season tomorrow at 3:30pm before Islanders head to Plattsburgh and Surge come to Sullivan on what will be the second half deciding series.
