QUINTANA TOSSES COMPLETE GAME SHUTOUT, ISLANDERS SIT ALONE IN FIRST PLACE

AGUADA, PR – The Puerto Rico Islanders sent Matt Quintana to the mound and thats all they needed as he tossed a complete game shutout to defeat the Plattsburgh RedBirds and remain at the top of the standings alone in first place.

The Islanders All Star  went all 9 innings  without allowing a single run. He struck out 10 RedBirds batters  giving up just 2 hits and walking 3 batters. A major league performance for the All Star right hander who earned a league leading 4th victory of the season.

The Islanders scored 5 runs on 5 errors by the RedBirds and that right there says it all.  Kyle Schade and remaining red hot for the Islanders Shota Sugawara both had 2 hits in this one with Schade driving in 2 runs. Marcus Guzman also drove in two.

Matt Quintana improves his record to a perfect (4-0). The team is now  (14-8) sitting alone in first place.

The teams will face off once again tomorrow for a double header starting at 10am and 2pm.
